    What kind of tape do you use? And does the tape get taped onto the floor (while holding down the first layer of paper)?

    Wouldn't plastic pipe be a better insulator then metal.? An SDR 26 plastic? It's water tight as well.

    I know you men will probably laugh at my ignorance but when you spoke about the crown over the years sagging if it is put in with the curve facing up, seems totally wrong to me. In my way of thinking, if the curve is facing up, it will start to move the opposite way which would be straight. If the curve is facing down already, it just seems to me that over the years, it could sag worse. I am not a carpenter but watching construction interest me, so I am watching to learn

      I’m not sure if you’re reiterating what you think he said or disputing what he said, but he was saying exactly what you wrote, curve facing up so it flattens to straight

    Interesting. Do you create the soil and compost mix or can you buy it like that? Also- is the rest (ie the base) clay or sand? Looks very different from what I know of in European plot preparation.

    What did you use for the acoustical sealant? I cannot find anything in locally with that name. And I want to buy some to use right away! Did you intentionally buy unfaced insulation planning to put the poly cover over it? Because I'm deciding which to use unfaced or faced? And what did you put in your ceilings un faced or faced insulation?

    Leaving a window open like that and not sealed from the bottom it's total BS... it's letting all air, hot and cold from the bottom frame during the winter getting extremely cold... you supposed to flash & Seal window properly so it will not leak!!! So for that reason u don't need to leave bottom open like that. It's crazy... think about it. Window all sealed to the house and not bottom??...

    • @isaacholzwarth
      @isaacholzwarth 2 года назад

      The reason for not sealing the bottom is because in the event that water does get behind the window flange, it will not be trapped there to pool up and cause rot and mold. Your foam around the window will be your air seal at the bottom of the window. Pretty much every install guide from every company specifies not sealing the bottom.

    So when new johnny green guy plumbers crimping job or a cheaply made dishwasher blows......wheres the water going to go? Yeppers.....the lowest point. The difference in cost plus better planning for floor trusses above would be a no brainer for a good builder.

    Why electrical and gas connections are inside the framed box? Why the back is drywall and not non-combustible material (like concrete board for example that is used in showers)? I want to install one but I seem to find little info on it ;(
